New Year New Classes

Everyone’s in the pre-holiday mood, but I’m working on my plan to combat cabin-fever in January and February, and I think I’ve found it. What better way to beat the mid-winter blues than crafting! These two classes are designed to be beginner-friendly. If you’re a journaler or novice or accomplished sewing expert, you will find some new skills to compliment your current practice. 

Join us at Give Rise Studios, a lovely light-filled space that nurtures your creative spirit in all the right ways. 

January, Brushstroke Lettering 

January – Brush Lettering Basics – led by Lola Love Letter

This beginner-friendly class includes an afternoon of instruction, one Tombow Brush Pen, and a Hand-Lettering Workbook, along with light refreshments. 

Led by Lola Love Letter, it aims to teach the art of hand lettering through her favorite tools and tricks of the trade.

Attendees will learn the basics of brush lettering, including brush stroke and letter formation, and then practice their newly learned skills with the instructor. Included is a workbook and brush pen so you can continue practicing the art of hand lettering on your own. 

The instructor and owner of Lola Love Letter is Cecile Madonna. A hand-lettering artist with a background in graphic design, she  specializes in mural painting and currently teaches at Elizabethtown College in PA.

February, Srappy Balls – led by Hermine Bernstein

This beginner class is the perfect introduction for anyone curious about learning the art of slow-stitching. The cost covers materials, instruction, and light refreshments. 

The afternoon will be led by Hermine Bernstein, a long-time stitcher and creative maker of all things fabric and thread. She uses a variety of materials to create original works of art and is adept at slow-stitching and embroidery. 

Hermine will help you spread your creative wings while calming your soul.Fabulous “Scrappy Balls” are wonderfully meditative to make, using fabric scraps, varied thread, buttons, trims, and other bits and bobs. Come join the fun, even if you’re an inexperienced hand stitcher. More experienced? This is a great way to expand your skills and creativity.
